Manny Pacquiao could fight Floyd Mayweather next April

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao could finally happen next April, according to Pacquiao's promoter.

The two superstars have spent months unsuccessfully trying to negotiate terms on a pay-per-view blockbuster, but according to promoter Bob Arum, the fight could go ahead next Spring.

Arum told Boxingscene.com that he and Pacquiao are "optimistic" the clash will happen in April 2013, although he admitted he would need to get Pacquiao's "ideas of schedules and when he is going to have to start campaigning [he wants to become governor of Sarangani province in the Philippines] next year".

And he added: "I know how to handle the Mayweather people and do the best deal possible and then get back to Manny."

Pacquiao is expected to choose his next opponent for a November fight in the next few days.
