England look set to win the Ashes series after Alastair Cook and Ian Bell both hit centuries as Australia struggled on day three of the final Test

Cook made 189 to take his total to 766 runs for the series, while Ian Bell (115) hit his first Ashes century as the tourists dominated another day of play.

England ended the day 208 runs ahead as they progressed from 167-3 at the start of play, and with Australia needing to win in Sydney to avoid losing the series, Andrew Strauss' side look to be closing in on a series win.

One negative from England's point of view was another poor innings for Paul Collingwood, who managed just 13 runs.

But overall, it was a superb day for England, who took advantage of excellent weather and left Australia barely in the game.

Australia need to take the three remaining wickets quickly on Thursday if they are to stand any chance of winning the fifth Test, but even if that does happen, it's hard to see how the hosts can level the series.
