Australia collapsed from 105-1 to 134-4 on day one of the fifth Ashes Test as play in Sydney was interrupted by rain

Play was halted twice due to the weather, with 31 overs being lost during the day.

Michael Clarke's first innings as Australia captain resulted in him making just four as England's bowlers took advantage of the cloud cover and a pitch offering seam movement throughout the day.

But while Clarke struggled, Australia debutant Usman Khawaja fared slightly better as he made 37.

Further rain is forecast on Tuesday, where play could start 30 minutes earlier than normal to help make up for the play lost on day one.

Mike Hussey is unbeaten on 12 when play resumes and Clarke will look to him and Brad Haddin to steer the hosts to a decent first innings total.
