India beat Pakistan by 29 runs in Wednesday's ICC World Cup 2011 semi-final to advance to this weekend's final where they will face Sri Lanka

Here's how the thrilling semi-final at Mohali played out...

1815 - INDIA 260-9 BEAT PAKISTAN 231-9 BY 29 RUNS

1813 - Game over for Pakistan as they fail to do anything in the final over, with Misbah's wicket falling as his slog was caught on the boundary by Kohli from Zaheer's delivery.

1810 - PAKISTAN REQUIRE 30 RUNS FROM THE FINAL OVER

1808 - Misbah reaches the 50 mark as he hits a brilliant six. Two dot balls follow rather than taking singles as India close in on victory then is forced to run for one. Ajmal survives the final ball of the over. Pakistan 231-9 after 49 overs.

1804 - Misbah finds the boundary three times from one over, but it's too little, too late. Where was this kind of batting from him earlier? Pakistan 224-9 after 48 overs.

1757 - Ajmal gets off the mark as India prepare to celebrate. Three overs remain. Pakistan 210-9 after 47 overs.

1756 - Saeed Ajmal joins Misbah in the middle of the pitch. The task is simple: 53 runs required from 21 runs.

1753 - The 47th over gets underway and Gul is trapped lbw from Nehra. Decision is reviewed but stands. Pakistan 208-9 (Gul 2).

1750 - Misbah starts the over with a four. He has Gul at the other end. Questions will certainly be asked after the game as to why the powerplay was not taken earlier in the innings. Questions over fielding and Misbah's defensive innings will also surely be asked. Still not enough boundaries despite the bright start to the over. Pakistan 208-8 after 46 overs.

1716 - Five overs remaining, more than 12 runs per over needed. Batting powerplay needed with 61 runs needed from 30 balls. Pakistan 200-8 after 45 overs.

1743 - Run rate creeps up to 11 runs per over after two successive swings and misses from Riaz. Nehra intelligently bowls a shorter delivery to catch him out on the next delivery then bowls a great yorker. The next delivery sees Riaz puts his shot up in the air and Tendulkar catches it comfortably. Pakistan 199-8 (Riaz 8).

1736 - Misbah sees Harbhajan looking for the quicker delivery again and connects with the reverse sweep for four runs, but he's happy to just go for the single from the next delivery. Singles aren't worrying India at this stage. Pakistan 199-7 after 44 overs.

1731 - Pakistan now need nearly ten runs per over. Misbah still reluctant to hit out and has been far too defensive from too many balls, as shown from his knock of 27 runs so far from 52 deliveries. Riaz shows him how it's done by finding the boundary, but it may not be enough. And still no batting powerplay. Pakistan 192-7 after 43 overs.

1728 - Eight overs left and bar a huge powerplay, this is looking like a win for India. Pakistan 184-7 after 42 overs.

1726 - Clever bowling by Harbhajan, with a couple of quickly deliveries aimed at trying to prevent Misbah from attempting the reverse sweep he likes to go for. Afridi on strike is met with a slower delivery from Harbhajan and the ball goes up in the air and is comfortably caught by Sehwag. Pakistan 184-7 (Afridi 19).

1722 - Run rate is creeping up to nine runs per over. Pakistan are really going to have to do something special when they call for the powerplay. Pakistan 181-6 after 41 overs.

1719 - PAKISTAN NEED 83 RUNS TO WIN FROM 59 BALLS

1714 - Pakistan's chances of victory are becoming increasingly slim. Afridi narrowly avoids being caught as he tries to rally, while at the other end, Misbah is continuing to offer very little, bar a rare boundary. You could understand him being bowled out if he was trying to hit a six from every ball, but he has looked defensive at times, and uninterested at others. Pakistan 177-6 after 40 overs.

1704 - Shahid Afridi really needs to produce a true captain's innings here. He finds the boundary to make an encouraging start with 11 runs from the over. Pakistan 163-6 after 38 overs.

1658 - Pakistan reach the 150 mark thanks to the first extra of the innings, but then in the next delivery of the over, Razzaq is clean bowled by Patel. Pakistan 150-6 (Razzaq 3).

1652 - Misbah on strike with Razzaq at the other end. Misbah is batting like this is a Test match. Run rate is now up to 7.67 per over. Pakistan 146-5 after 35 overs.

1645 - Another blow for Pakistan as Harbhajan bowls out Akmal in the first over after the break. India are closing in on victory...Pakistan 142-5 (Akmal 29).

1640 - Another good over for India, with just one run conceded. Drinks break. Pakistan 142-4 after 33 overs.

1635 - Another six from Akmal and it is a huge hit. He's doing his best to keep Pakistan in this game but the run rate is still above the 6.50 mark. Pakistan 141-4 after 32 overs.

1623 - Pakistan score their first boundary for over 50 minutes. Akmal follows it up by hitting a six from the next delivery with 12 coming off the over in total. Pakistan 130-4 after 30 overs.

1621 - Another tight over from India, conceding just one run. Pakistan 118-4 after 29 overs.

1616 - Pakistan narrowly avoid losing another wicket when a run out decision goes their way. That's about all that is going their way as the run rate approaches 6.50. Can they make a late comeback in the final 22 overs? Pakistan 117-4 after 28 overs.

1614 - A wicket maiden there for Yuvraj, by the way.

1609 - Misbah is joined by Umar Akmal. It's starting to look like India will be in Saturday's final. Pakistan 106-4 after 26 overs.

1607 - This is starting to look like a massive mountain to climb for Pakistan as Khan's wicket falls, with Yuvraj again the bowler and Raina this time making the catch. Pakistan 106-4 (Khan 13).

1601 - Misbah-Ul-Haq is next to bat for Pakistan. Pakistan 103-3 after 24 overs.

1600 - Another blow for Pakistan as Shariq misses a straight ball from Yuvraj, who finds middle stump. Pakistan 103-3 (Yuvraj 30).

1555 - Better from Pakistan as they reach the hundred mark but a lack of boundaries is starting to hurt them badly and they are 33 runs behind the score India had at this stage. Pakistan 100-2 after 23 overs.

1551 - Only one off the over. Run rate required up to 5.96 and Pakistan need to start doing something special here on a wicket which is becoming harder to score on. Pakistan 94-2 after 22 overs.

1547 - It's perhaps a little early to predict the result, but Pakistan are really being restricted here with the run rate creeping up towards six runs an over. Pakistan 93-2 after 21 overs.

1539 - PAKISTAN NEED 177 MORE TO WIN FROM 31 OVERS

1538 - Another tidy over. Pakistan 84-2 after 19 overs.

1533 - Asad Shafiq is showing no sign of nerves in bat for Pakistan in such a huge match, but India are doing everything they can to keep the run rate down. The one thing currently Pakistan's favour is that they still have plenty of wickets. Pakistan 80-2 after 18 overs.

1528 - We're still trying to work out why Hafeez attempted that scoop shot. Big wicket for India to take.Younus Khan is the new batsman and gets off the mark. Pakistan 72-2 after 16 overs.

1522 - Hafeez is dismissed after a terrible shot from Patel's delivery, with his attempts to flick the ball behind failing to pay off and Dhoni catching behind the stumps. Pakistan 70-2 (Hafeez 43).

1520 - Harbhajan's short ball is sent for four runs as Hafeez continues to look good when on strike. Solid over otherwise from the spinner. Pakistan 70-1 after 15 overs chasing 261 to win.

1516 - Pakistan's run rate needs to improve. India are fielding well which is making up for any loose deliveries being bowled. Run rate currently 4.55, some way behind the required 5.47 after a maiden over from Patel. Pakistan 63-1 after 14 overs.

1509 - Munaf Patel bowls a slack delivery which results in four runs, with five coming off the over - the first in the bowling powerplay. Pakistan 59-1 after 12 overs.

1503 - Change in the bowling as Harbhajan Singh comes in to give India some spin. He nearly takes the wicket of Hafeez in his first over, with a caught and bowled attempt falling short. Pakistan 54-1 after 11 overs.

1455 - Hafeez is playing some excellent cricket here as Pakistan settle well, but on the final ball over the ninth over, Akmal puts Zaheer's delivery up in the air and Yuvraj catches it comfortably. Pakistan 44-1 (Akmal 19).

1444 - Excellent stroke from Hafeez as he hits a short delivery away for four runs to briefly silence the India fans who were buoyed by their side's good bowling in the past few overs. Last ball over the over also reaches the boundary. Pakistan 38-0 after seven overs.

1440 - India's attempt to run out Kamran Akmal is set for a review. Not out, but a much better over from India as Pakistan's run rate takes an early tumble. Pakistan 29-0 after six overs.

1435 - There's no question that Pakistan's opening batsmen are looking comfortable out there right now. The run rate is above 6.00 - and above the required 5-14. Pakistan 28-0 after five overs.

1428 - Good solid start by Kamran Akmal and Mohammed Hafeez, but it's early days and this one could still go either way. Pakistan 20-0 after three overs.

1416 - Pakistan get underway with their innings with eight from the first over. Pakistan 8-0 after one over chasing 261 to win.

1350 - INDIA 260-9 from 50 overs. PAKISTAN need 261 to win.

1348 - Ashish Nehra gets off the mark as India look for a few late runs in the final few balls of their innings but their chase leads to Nehra being run out after just two deliveries. India 258-9 (Nehra 1).

1346 - Riaz takes the wicket of Khan who is caught behind, to give the bowler his fifth wicket of the innings. Impressive. India 256-8 (Khan 9).

1343 - Last over of the batting powerplay and Raina and Zaheer Khan look for boundaries. Pakistan's fielding has been much better in the last few overs as they look to restrict their opponents. This is shaping up to be a thriller as Gul is hit for four off the last ball of the over. One over left for India 256-7 after 49 overs.

1337 - India look for a good finish in the final few overs but will it be enough? India 246-7 after 48 overs.

1333 - Excellent over for Ajmal, with only three runs given away. India 238-7 after 47 overs.

1330 - Breakthrough for Pakistan as Harbhajan Singh is dismissed, with Ajmal's excellent delivery seeing the batsman stumped by Akmal. India 236-7 (Harbhajan 12).

1324 - Raina smacks a full toss from the ineffective Umar Gul away for four runs - one of three boundaries in the over - as the crowd start to make some noise again. Good over for India but an expensive one for Pakistan as the run rate creeps up to 5.13. India 235-6 after 46 overs.

1319 - India make their first boundary for no fewer than 15 overs - a sign of how the game has changed as the innings has progressed - as they step things up a little. India 221-6 after 45 overs.

1310 - No fewer than six catches dropped so far by Pakistan, so they'll be delighted to still be in with a good chance of victory here - especially as this pitch still looks as if it has plenty of runs in it. India need to increase the run rate, which has dropped to 4.84, as it's time for the batting powerplay. India 213-6 after 44 overs.

1305 - Harbhajan Singh next in to bat for India. Still too close to call this one as Pakistan make an unsuccesful run-out appeal on the final ball of the over. India 207-6 after 43 overs.

1302 - Riaz strikes again as Pakistan take the wicket of Dhoni lbw after a successful appeal. India 205-6 (Dhoni 25).

1257 - This game really could go either way and you get the feeling the next few overs are crucial. Pakistan are working hard but could do with taking a couple more wickets, while India look like falling considerably short of the 300 target they were on course for earlier in the innings. India 203-5 after 41 overs.

1253 - 200 mark is up but the run rate has dropped to five an over. India 200-5 after 40 overs.

1242 -Suresh Raina is next to bat for India 187-5 after 37 overs.

1241 - Well, this time he's gone. Tendulkar is excellently caught by captain by Afridi at cover from Ajmal's delivery. India 187-5 (Tendulkar 85).

1240 - How costly will the numerous failures to remove Tendulkar prove to be? His wicket could have been taken six times so far between the appeals and dropped catches.

1235 - Another over and another Tendulkar chance dropped. This time it's Umar Akmal who lets the batsman off the hook and it was an easy chance too. India 182-4 after 35 overs.

1229 - Play resumes after a drinks break and the Indian fans cheer as their team win a free hit following a no ball. Tidy over. India 177-4 after 34 overs

1221 - Pakistan make bowling changes as they continue to go in search of wickets. Hafeez has been solid so far. MS Dhoni moves on to 14 as India continue to make good progress. India 173-4 after 33 overs.

1211 - Tendulkar reminds Pakistan that he remains a danger as he moves on to 74 from 89 balls. India 168-4 after 29 overs.

1205 - Pakistan have made a few fielding mistakes during this game already. Aside from the dropped catches, there have been incidents on more than one occasion where slow fielding has resulted in India scoring four runs from what should have been a single. Ten off the over with India 161-4 after 28 overs.

1200 - India reach the 150 mark. Riaz currently the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with 3-17 from five overs. India 150-4 after 27 overs.

1154 - Make that India 141-4 as Singh goes first ball after a super delivery from Riaz.

1152 - Another wicket falls as Kohli is caught by Akmal at backward point from Riaz's delivery. Yuvraj Singh is next in. India 141-3.

1149 - India 141-2 after 25 overs.

1140 - Tendulkar reaches the 50 mark - his 95th half-century in one-day internationals - and moves to 56 from 70 balls after another boundary from the final ball over the over. India 130-2 after 22 overs.

1133 - Virat Kohli is the new batsman and he gets off the mark. Tendulkar dropped for a second time, again from a Afridi delivery. Neither catch has been particularly tough to take either. Younus Khan knows he should have caught that. India 118-2 after 20 overs.

1131 - The Tendulkar-Gambhir partnership reaches 68 runs from 76 balls but Pakistan break that partnership up when Gambhir is beaten by the spin of Akmal. India 116-2 (Gambhir 27).

1121 - To be fair to Pakistan, they've done a good job over the past few overs of not letting Tendulkar look comfortable. Hafeez gets to bowl for the first time but the runs keep coming. India 110-1 after 17 overs.

1118 - Spin may be the better option, but Pakistan are in need of wickets as Tendulkar and Gambhir put on a partnership of 51 from just 55 balls. India 99-1 after 15 overs.

1109 - Another let-off for India and for Tendulkar, who is dropped at mid-wicket by Misbah-Ul-Haq. Afridi not impressed. How many lives does this cat have? India 90-1 after 14 overs.

1104 - Afridi bowls his first over of the day. Spin definitely seems to be the way to go for Pakistran right now. India 79-1 after 12 overs.

1100 - Just one ball later and the wicket of Tendulkar nearly goes again. Pakistan think they've stumped him. TV review shows otherwise. Cue celebration from the thousands of India fans inside the stadium. India 76-1 after 11 overs.

1056 - Pakistan think they've made another breakthrough. Tendulkar is given lbw against Ajmal. The decision is reviewed and the umpire's original decision is reversed. Not out.

1052 - Riaz with a better over but India continue to advance. India 73-1 after 10 overs.

1047 - Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi opts to introduce spinner Saeed Ajmal. Better over. India 68-1 after nine overs.

1042 - Tendulkar reminds Pakistan that they've still got plenty of work to do as his perfectly timed knock results in another boundary on a pitch which is proving to have some pace in it. India 65-1 after eight overs.

1034 - Gautam Gambhir gets off the mark with the final ball of the over. India 49-1 after six overs.

1031 - And there's the breakthrough Pakistan needed. Sehwag is trapped lbw by Wahab Riaz. The decision is appealed but the review shows that decision stands. India 48-1 (Sehwag 38).

1028 - Another eight off the next over. Early advantage is firmly with India and so far, electing to bat is looking like being the right decision. Sehwag is causing all sorts of problems with 38 runs from 23 balls. India 47-0 after five overs.

1021 - India continue to make a great start with a further 12 runs off the fourth over. India 39-0 after four overs.

1016 - Sehwag off to a great start with six boundaries in the first three overs and 25 runs from 13 balls. India 27-0 after three overs.

1005 - Sehwag finds the boundary in the first over. India 4-0 after the first over.

1001 - And we're underway...

0956 - Shahid Afridi said after losing the toss that he thinks it make no difference which team bats first. You could argue India would have preferred to have lost the toss and batted second, but winning the toss and then electing to field was surely too big of a gamble.

0948 BST - So here is confirmation of the teams to get us underway:

India: Sehwag, Tendulkar, Gambhir, Kohli, Yuvrai Singh, Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Nehra, Patel.

Pakistan: Hafeez, Karam Akmal (wk), Shafiq, Younus Khan, Misbah-Ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Afridi (c), Razzaq, Riaz, Gul, Ajmal.
