Jamaica Tallawahs will be looking to bounce back from an embarrassing defeat in the Caribbean Premier League this week when they take on St Lucia Zouks.

Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Lucia Zouks starts at 0000 BST on Wednesday, July 8.

The Tallawahs went in search of their third successive win when they lined up against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots but they were well and truly destroyed.
The Patriots were put into bat first by Jamaica and they went on the attack making 199-5 from 20 overs with opener Evin Lewis smashing 82 from 45 deliveries, while Martin Guptil and Carlos Braithwaite made 35 and 36 respectively. None of the Jamaica bowlers did themselves justice as all six used went for at least eight an over.
In reply the Tallawahs were completely blown away as they were skittled out for 80 after 16 overs with Chris Lynn top scoring with a less than impressive 20. Tabraiz Shamsi grabbed the ball for St Kitts & Nevis and returned figures of 4-23 off four overs, while Sheldon Cottrell took a three wicket haul.
That defeat means Jamaica Tallawahs are now fourth on the league standings with a record of two wins and two defeats from four matches and have a net run rate of -0.602.
St Lucia Zouks, on the other hand, are second on the standings list with seven points and are only one point behind leaders and defending champions Barbados Tridents.
They have won three and lost two along with a no result from their six CPL matches and they come into this one on the back of a stunning win over the champions.
St Lucia Zouks won the toss against Barbados at Warner Park and opted to have a bat first – they made 202-5 off their allocated overs with Andre Fletcher and former England star Kevin Pietersen leading the way with 77 and 73 respectively before they were both removed by Jeevan Mendis – who ended up figures of 3-33.
Barbados started their innings quite confidently with Dwayne Smith and Dilshan Munaweera starting well until they were sent packing to leave them 47-2 off just over six overs. Further runs from Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Jason Holder – who all made 31 – took their total on but it wasn’t enough as they fell 30 runs short of their total.

Harry James' love for sports began in his high school basketball days. Sadly, an injury meant he couldn't further his NBA dreams, but the hooper's loss is our gain as he then found journalism.
