In the UK, the action airs live on Sky Sports 1/Sky Sports 1 HD and online (see here), while outside of the UK, Wednesday’s Grand Slam of Darts is streaming live online with 365. Preview: The last 16 kicked off in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night as World Youth Champion Keegan Brown dumped out 2012 Grand Slam king – Raymond van Barneveld, while Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall and Kim Huybrechts also secured their progression. Now, all eyes will once again be on reigning champion Phil Taylor as he steps up his quest for a sixth Grand Slam crown with a mouth-watering clash against Peter Wright. Taylor cantered into the knock-out stages with three consecutive victories, dropping just four legs en route to this stage and notably recording a tournament record average of 114 in his demolition of Christian Kist. The Power, whose indifferent form has seen him fail to win a televised title since August’s Sydney Masters, looks to continue his ruthless run this week on a stage on which he feels at home. The 16-time World Champion faces a formidable test in the shape of colourful world finalist Wright – a man appearing in the knock-out stages of this competition for the first time. Runner-up in Group F, otherwise referred to as the ‘group of death’, Wright overcame Brendan Dolan and Simon Whitlock to qualify behind Michael Smith. That meant ‘Snakebite’ was handed a show-down with the defending champion, but will hold no fear having taken two wins and a draw from their last three meetings. (Photo by Lawrence Lustig/PDC) The night’s other box office battle sees recent Masters champion James Wade take on Lakeside king – Stephen Bunting – in a clash of two hugely in-form stars. A rejuvenated Wade has returned to his brilliant best in recent months and is now firmly regarded as a key contender for every televised tournament after seemingly ridding his personal demons. The left-hander, amid new walk-on music, has seen off Jamie Caven and Tony O’Shea in between a narrow defeat to Mervyn King – but ‘The Machine’ knows he must climb through the gears against on the PDC’s top new attractions. Bunting has enjoyed a dream debut in this event so far with a trio of impressive wins over Gary Anderson, Dean Winstanley and Wesley Harms to comfortably top Group H. The Bullet, who has risen inside the top 32 in less than a year on the PDC circuit, looks to pile the pressure on 2010 runner-up Wade using his trademark power-scoring ability, although Wade’s efficient finishing could make for a nip and tuck tie. Scottish star Anderson took out Dutchman Wesley Harms in just eight minutes and 73 darts to ensure his progression from Group H behind Bunting, but that finishing position ultimately meant he avoided Wade at this stage of the competition. King, meanwhile, continues to showcase his terrific run of form, and after emphasising his tenacity with three consecutive last-leg wins in the group, he is now eyeing a third consecutive televised Quarter-Final appearance. Young sensation Michael Smith aims to extend his best ever run at the Wolves Civic by overcoming 2012 Lakeside champion – Christian Kist. Smith powered to three consecutive victories in a gruelling Group F to ensure he averting a clash with rival Taylor in the last 16, and ‘Bully Boy’ will be hoping to mount a serious title challenge this weekend. The St Helens ace recorded two ton-plus averages during his group stage campaign and will be desperate to replicate those figures over a long-haul format this evening. Kist, meanwhile, left it late to secure his progression from Group E alongside Taylor, and the in-form Dutchman will be hoping to raise his game further in a bid to spring a surprise on the youngster. The action gets underway at 7.00pm GMT from the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, with all matches to be played over the best of 19 legs. Thursday’s chedule of play:
