US Open Golf 2010 - Tiger Woods adjusted and no longer the favorite

Crunch Sports Staff - 17 Jun 2010

Tiger Woods has surrendered favoritism in one of golf’s four majors for the first time since The Open Championship in 1998.

The American had dropped to 10/1 with Ladbrokes to win the US Open and has been surpassed in the market by Phil Mickelson.

The left hander has been impressive this season, winning the US Masters earlier in the year at Augusta and can be backed at 8/1 to win at Pebble Beach.

Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, told Crunchsports this morning

“A favorite other than Woods would have been unthinkable not so long ago.

“But it’s a sign of the times, and testimony to the former poster boy’s monumental fall from grace, that it’s Mickelson who goes off as the man to beat.”
