2010 Belmont Stakes - Uptowncharlybrown contending

Crunch Sports Staff - 2 Jun 2010

Sometimes the underdogs are underrated but that's not the case with Uptowncharlybrown.

Uptowncharlybrown is working with a new trainer in Kiaran McLaughlin and the horse is considered more of a longshot at the 2010 Belmont Stakes than most of the others.

Uptowncharlybrown has some momentum on his side, having won his two races at Tampa Bay Downs by a combined one and a half lengths. He followed that up by finishing third in the Sam F. Davis and fifth in the Tampa Derby.

McLaughlin is optimistic about his new horse’s chances – citing Uptowncharlybrown’s come-from-behind running style as a reason to get especially excited. He hasn’t raced for seven weeks, however, and the Belmont will be his longest career race. He’s never run more than 1 1/16th miles before. He’s also carrying more weight on his body than he ever has before.

We are recommending avoiding this horse at the Belmont Stakes.
