This race has only been run three times but if past results are anything to go by, experience is essential as the last three winners had run at least five times.

There are only two qualifiers this year: the Aidan O'Brien-trained MASTER OF HOUNDS (7/2Ladbrokes), who was last seen finishing third in the Racing Post Trophy, and Madman Diaries, who is trying turf for the first time. The last-named could be an each-way price at 20/1 (bet365) as he's three from five Stateside and his trainer Wesley Ward - winner of two races at Royal Ascot in 2009 - is adamant he will love the surface.

Box 10 is a slight worry, though, and Master Of Hounds (box five) has to the selection, if an obvious one. Prior to running third at Doncaster, he had won impressively at Tipperary around a turn and had previously finished second to the smart Roderic O'Connor, form which looks even better now. He's only got to replicate that to win here, which is still a considerable ask given the alien conditions, but he does look the one to beat.
