The Indians boast a .611 winning percentage heading into Friday's action.

The Cleveland Indians have been the surprise team of Major League Baseball so far this season. Entering Friday's game against the Texas Rangers, Cleveland are 33-21 with a .611 winning percentage, good enough for best overall in the Major Leagues.

Still reasonably early in the season, Cleveland have a 4.5 game lead over the Detroit Tigers in the Central Division along with a comfortable 8 game lead over the Chicago White Sox.

Cleveland have bright spots in their batting lineup as Travis Hafner has an OPS of .958 while Asdrubal Cabrera's OPS is .894 but Cleveland's main strong-point is their relief pitching.

Chris Perez is a reliable closer with an ERA of 2.61 but Tony Sipp, Vinnie Pestano, and Rafael Perez have all been dynamite in their appearances so far this season. Sip and Pestano have WHIPs below 1.000 while Perez's is just 1.271.

The starting pitching is not the greatest although both Josh Tomlin and Justin Masterson are off to a good start.

Cleveland have not won the World Series since 1948 but their fans should have some optimism at this point as a winning percentage better than .600 through 50 games isn't fluky.
