San Diego Padres Longshots to win 2010 NLCS?

The Padres have the second best record in the National League but their odds have stayed long.

The San Diego Padres are currently on top of the NL West and they have a very impressive winning percentage of .582 so far this season.  The Padres main strength is their starting pitching as Kevin Correia is the only weak link while Clayton Richard has been impressive despite only having a 4-3 record.

At the plate Adrian Gonzalez has been doing most of the work as his OPS is .938 after 292 plate appearances.  If the Padres had more offensive depth - they would be an outright scary team and that is where they need to improve to stay on top of the other teams in their division.

Stan James still have the Padres way out at +2800 to win the NLCS and there is no reason not to take that price.  It's safe to say that at this point in the season a team winning 58% of their games ends up winning the NLCS more than once in every 29 attempts and San Diego are a great pick for value.
