Nico Rosberg Says He Can Still Catch Lewis Hamilton

Nico Rosberg not giving up hope of catching Lewis Hamilton

Rosberg, who was runner-up to Hamilton last year, trails the British driver by 48 points going into this weekend’s Russian Grand Prix.

But the German says the strong performance from the entire Mercedes set up this year leads him to believe he can still overturn that deficit.

Two-time world champion Hamilton has enjoyed eight grand prix victories this season compared to just three for Rosberg.

“I’m not backing down and in my mind it’s not over yet,” Rosberg said.

The 30-year-old holds an 11-point advantage on four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel in third place with five races left in the season.

He admits it is a big gap to bridge if he is going to catch Hamilton and says he must get back to winning races if he wants to do it.

“The gap on Lewis is quite big,” Rosberg added.

“But the way the whole team has performed this year – from the factories to the garage – has been just incredible. I have the car I need to get back to the top step.”
