WWE John Cena To Be Honorary Starter At The Daytona 500

WWE star John Cena has been invited to be the honorary starter at the Daytona 500.

Cena, who will be back in Florida in a few weeks time to face The Rock at WWE’s WrestleMania 28 pay-per-view on April 1st at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, was invited to attend the 54th running of the Daytona race by American NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards.

Edwards and Cena are good friends, and the former WWE champion told the Miami Herald: “I’m telling you. I’m so excited. I’ve been using a weighted flag. My training has been going great. I’m ready for Daytona.”

Cena, who is a huge fan of the sport and has a large collection of expensive cars, said of Edwards: “It was from the Celebrity Driving Challenge with Gillette that we became friends. I have to thank the folks at Gillette for introducing us. It was totally by chance.

“I knew very little about NASCAR. I grew up with a little bit of the history of NASCAR just because I’ve been a car enthusiast.”
