Chris Paul Injury Finishes New Orleans Hornets

Crunch Sports Staff - 3 Feb 2010

The Hornets have little chance of making the post-season without Chris Paul.

The New Orleans Hornets were never really a contender in the Western Conference but with the knee injury to their star guard, Chris Paul, they need to be completely abandoned in the futures market for the remainder of the 2009-10 NBA season.

The Hornets are currently sitting in 10th spot in the Western Conference and it is difficult to foresee them surging into the playoffs now that they are without their best player.  Currently the Hornets are priced at +4000 (40/1; Players Only) just to win the Western Conference but their true odds might actually be out in outer space as they are improbably just to limp into the playoffs as a 8 seed.

Avoid this team in the betting market but consider betting against them in straight up game situations.

I guess 3 weeks ago wasn't the best time to bet they would win the Southwest. At the time they were a 30-1 dog. Not the worst 200 dollars I've ever spent, but this injury makes it close. 40-1 to win the west seems terrible, and now is even worse. Hornets247.com
