A preview of Tuesday night's NHL game between the LA Lakers and Atlanta Hawks with attention paid to recent trends, start time, and venue.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks will play their first game, post-All Star break, on Tuesday as the Lakers host Atlanta in a game from the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Although both teams are among the more talented teams in their conferences, they both enter Tuesday night's game somewhat cold. Prior to the All Star break the Hawks had gone just 5-5 in their last 10 efforts while the Lakers had achieved the exact same record in their last 10. Of note LA had lost 3 straight immediately prior to the break, including a discrediting loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Those three losses were all road losses however while Tuesday's game against the Hawks is a home game for LA. From the Staples Center this season Los Angeles have gone 19-8 and they match up favorably against Atlanta, a team who are 17-12 on the year as visitors.

Tuesday's game between the Hawks and Lakers is an intriguing one as both teams need to get their acts together if they have ambitions of holding home court advantage in the post-season for the first round. Atlanta are in 5th place and need to play strong basketball if they are to ascend in the standings while Los Angeles, currently in third place, need to avoid descending.

Game time is at 7:30pm PT on Tuesday as part of a busy night in the NBA that will feature 9 games, including ones involving the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat (not head to head).
