NBA - Jarrett Jack Could be Toronto Bound

The talented guard has signed an offer sheet.

Rumors that Jarrett Jack is a new Toronto Raptor have not yet been confirmed, however he has signed an offer sheet with the Raptors.  At this point in the dealings the Indiana Pacers could still retain Jack, however they must respond with a matching offer within one week's time.

Jack will turn 26 years old later this year and his game has steadily improved since his first season in the league back in 2005-06 when he was with the Portland Trailblazers.  While Portland was reluctant to use Jack as a starter in the 2007-08 season, after moving to Indiana to play the 2009-10 season, Jack started 53 games and averaged 13.1 points per game, 4.1 assists per game, and 2.7 rebounds per game.

At this point in his career Jack has yet to demonstrate that he is a difference maker but some more progress should be assumed due to his age and due to his trend of improvement since joining the association.

Currently the Toronto Raptors, even with Hedo Turkoglu already signed, appear to have very little value in the Eastern Conference. Their odds to win that conference are currently set at +3500 (35/1; all odds Players Only) and no one really thinks that they will be able to compete against Cleveland, Boston, or Orlando (or even Miami).  However, should they obtain Jack, and should he, Bosh, and Calderon all improve their play (which they should based on their ages) then there might be a some value in picking the Raptors to win the Eastern Conference.

The reason for that is that they might surprise a lot of teams and they could be a little bit of a sleeper team next year.  Even if they don't get Jack, the fact that they went after him indicates that they are interested in a solid player.  Currently set at +3500 (35/1) to win the Eastern Conference, these odds might shorten to +1500 (15/1) in the early regular season, especially if the current favorites hit some roadblocks.
