Season Over For Milwaukee Bucks Rookie Jabari Parker

The Milwaukee Bucks’ playoffs hopes suffered a major blow after prized rookie Jabari Parker sustained a season-ending injury on Monday.

The 19-year-old, who was selected second overall in this year’s rookie draft behind Andrew Wiggins, suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter of their 96-94 road win over the Phoenix Suns.

Parker collided with PJ Tucker when he drove towards the basket and had to be carried off the court. Team doctors initially diagnosed a sprain but an MRI test revealed a complete tear.

Parker, who played just one season at Duke University, is averaging 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds this season and is the top candidate for the Rookie of the Year. He is second in the team in scoring and third in rebounding. Parker joins Ersan Ilyasova and John Henson on the sidelines.

Carrying the scoring load in Parker’s absence are top scorer Brandon Knight, Giannis Antetokounmpo, OJ Mayo and Khris Middleton. The Bucks (13-12) will shoot for their third-straight win when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night in the second stop of their four-game Western trip.
