Connecticut Huskies vs Louisville Cardinals Preview - Big East Final

(credit: Wikipedia.org)
The 2011 Big East Conference tournament will finish tonight as the UCONN Huskies face the Louisville Cardinals.

Connecticut have proven that seeding doesn't mean much when it comes to the Big East conference as Jim Calhoun's 9th seeded Huskies are into the championship game. They will face the Louisville Cardinals tonight, the three seed in the Big East tournament, in the tournament championship final from Madison Square Garden (ESPN).

It has been an intense week for the Huskies one that could do wonders for their NCAA March Madness tournament seeding.

Connecticut are ranked just 21st in the nation entering tonight's game and that ranking would imply a seeding of 5th in one of the brackets. However with recent wins over the Georgetown Hoyas, the Pittsburgh Panthers, and the Syracuse Orange perhaps Connecticut will be seriously considered for a three seed or even a two seed if they beat Louisville.

While UCONN fans have to optimistic about their team's chances the fact remains that Connecticut have been unable to solve the Cardinals so far this season as the Huskies lost both games to Louisville, including the one that UCONN hosted.

Game time tonight is at 9pm ET and Kemba Walker represents Connecticut's best hope of taking the Big East title down. However UCONN enter the game playing for the fifth consecutive night and that will make them candidates for fatigue, especially in the second half.

Louisville are a much better rested team and that bodes well for the Cardinals' chances tonight.

While an automatic bid is on the line, both teams are locks for the NCAA national championship tournament and the importance of the game is for seeding in that tournament and for the conference title directly.
