Butler Bulldogs vs Virginia Commonwealth University Rams Preview

Two Cinderella teams meet for the right to advance to the national championship of March Madness. The Butler Bulldogs and the VCU Rams are scheduled to meet on Saturday in one half of the national semifinals for college basketball. The game is noteworthy as it features a not-so-classic 8 seed versus 11 seed in a national semifinal. Cinderella will be staying at the ball late this year as one of these two underdog teams will be in the national final come Monday night against Connecticut or Kentucky, two powerhouse programs. The oddsmakers (ie. bet365) favor the Bulldogs to wear the slipper longer partly because Butler have many players on this year’s team that made last year’s championship game. Additionally Brad Stevens, head coach of Butler, is among the elite coaches in college basketball and he gives his team the edge of experience, an edge that Shaka Smart, head coach of VCU, lacks. The Butler versus VCU game is the first semifinal scheduled for Saturday with a 6:09pm ET start time (CBS).
