Murray State, seeded 13th in the West, has upset the 4th seeded Vanderbilt Commodores. Murray State senior Danero Thomas took what could have been the last shot of his collegiate career as he pulled up from just inside the 3 point line down by 1 with less than a second to play.
However Thomas was straight cash with a perfect swish as the buzzer sounded and instead of going home Murray State now move on to the second round where they await the winner between Butler and UTEP.
Despite being a major upset in terms of seeding, the upset was not significant in terms of odds. Players Only, for example, favored Vanderbilt to win but only at -155 (31/20) on the straight up line.
