NCAA Championship Game 2010 Half Time Spread

Crunch Sports Staff - 5 Apr 2010

Can Butler hang tough until half time or will they get shell shocked in the early going?

Duke and Butler play for all the marbles tonight at about 9:20pm ET on CBS.  Duke have come in as big -360 (5/16; Sportsbook.com) favorites to win the championship game as most regard Butler as a Cinderella team as opposed to a bonafide threat in the final.  NCAA Tournament Championship odds at Sportsbook.com have No. 1 Duke as a 7-point favorite over No. 5 Butler on Monday night.

Expect Duke to come out hard and fast in this game with their three big time players in Jon Scheyer, Nolan Smith, and Kyle Singler.  Underdog Cinderella teams like Butler often get blitzed in the early going of big games before they find their groove and with that you may want to take Duke to have at least a 5 point lead at half time as Sportsbook.com have their half time line set at -4.5 for Duke to cover.

Duke have won nine consecutive games, including a 78-57 dismantling of the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Final Four. While Butler have won 25 straight games straight up that winning streak has a lot of fluff in it as they are coming out of the Horizon League and in all honesty they didn't have a tough draw to the finals this year except for Kansas State (Syracuse got cold and injured late in the year).

Butler now have the ACC champion in their path and they won't have what it takes to win as Coach K. and his crew won't be lenient with them nor will they be underestimating the Bulldogs.
