The AFC playoffs resume as the Patriots are back in action.

The New England Patriots will open their playoff campaign on Sunday as they face the New York Jets in the final game of the weekend. At stake is a spot in the AFC championship game next weekend, with an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl in February.

New England, the favorite to win the Super Bowl, look as though they have a huge edge against the Jets on Sunday.

The Patriots are 14-2 on the year and at home they are a perfect 8-0, a trend that makes them look like they are on the clear ascension for the Super Bowl as they will host throughout the AFC playoffs. The Jets are more than respectable on the road, as they are 7-2 as visitors including last week's win at Indianapolis, however a point that every football analyst will be quick to make is that New England already wrecked the Jets, not all that long ago, in a week 13 game from December.

The Jets went into New England on December 6th as an undefeated road team and they came out as 42 point losers.

That was the clear message that New England were the team to beat this season and it would be shocking if the Jets found something to win on Sunday. Game time is at 4:30pm ET on Sunday and CBS have the television coverage.
