Lord Stanley's Cup is in Philadelphia tonight and the Blackhawks can take it down with a road win.
Game 6 of the 2010 NHL finals takes place tonight and the championship trophy will be in the building. It has been 18 years since Chicago and the Cup were in the same building but back in 1992 it was there for Pittsburgh, not Chicago, as the Blackhawks were swept by Jaromir Jagr and Mario Lemieux in the 1992 NHL finals.
The Blackhawks have not won the Stanley Cup since 1961 and while they have 3 in their history they are a major underachieving franchise when it comes to Cup wins. All of their NHL championships are from periods in the league's history when there were far fewer franchises and presumably it was easier to win with only a handful of teams to best.
Despite the fact that home ice advantage has meant everything in the Stanley Cup finals, Chicago are coming in as the favorites. Priced at -115 (20/23; Players Only) on the heels of a huge victory, Chicago appear to be poised to take down the championship in Philly. The Blackhawks opened at +105 (21/20) with the sportsbook a few days again but their odds have shortened since that time.
The Flyers are priced at -105 (20/21) but it is hard to feel confident in a team that may finally be showing their weaknesses.
Keep in mind that Philly never really did much of their own dirty work in these playoffs. They beat New Jersey, the 2 seed, in the first round but after that they had a 6 seed and then an 8 seed and that is the luckiest draw possible for a 7 seed.
Is the clock finally striking midnight on Cinderella or can the Flyers win game 6 at home and force another Stanley Cup finals game 7?
Our recommendation in game 6 is to pound the 'hawks to win and to take down their first NHL championship in a long long time. Game time is not until Wednesday at 8pm ET.
