Chicago will likely become the new favorite should they knock out Vancouver in game 5.
The San Jose Sharks defeated the Detroit Red Wings in game 5 of their second round series in the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs. With the win San Jose advanced back to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2004. The Sharks await the winner between Chicago and Vancouver as we update the odds in the futures market for the 2010 Stanley Cup (Players Only):
San Jose Sharks +225 (awaiting opponent in the Western Conference finals)
Chicago Blackhawks +250 (lead Vancouver 3-1)
Pittsburgh Penguins +250 (lead Montreal 3-2)
Boston Bruins +600 (lead Boston 3-1)
Vancouver Canucks +700
Montreal Canadiens +2000
Philadelphia Flyers +10000
The Vancouver Canucks at 7 to 1 look like the biggest sucker bet out there now. To win the Stanley Cup the Canucks would have to win 3 consecutive against Chicago, two of which would take place in the Windy City, win a road series against San Jose and then win the Stanley Cup finals. It can be done but you would want odds of around +3000 if you were going to bother with that betting line.
Boston at +600 are the team to top up at this point as they look great to make the Eastern Conference finals and will not be a huge underdog against the Penguins should that match-up take place, which is currently the most likely.
