Scrivens has never appeared in an NHL game however he did show some promise in the AHL.

MapleLeafs.com issued a press release on Friday indicating that Toronto have signed Ben Scrivens, a goaltender, to a one year contract.

Scrivens, who has not yet played in the NHL, did play 33 games for the Toronto Marlies this past season. His record was mediocre however his save percentage was .924 and his goals against average was 2.33.

The financial details of his contract were not disclosed however it must be assumed to be near the league minimum based on Scrivens' lack of experience.

The goaltender is from Spruce Grove, Alberta, a small city not far west of Edmonton. Scrivens will turn 25 on September 11th, 2011 as he looks forward to making his NHL debut.
