Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins Game 7 Preview - 2011 NHL Playoffs

The 2011 Stanley Cup Finals will conclude on Wednesday as the Vancouver Canucks face the Boston Bruins.

The Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins will meet in game seven of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night as one of the two teams will walk away league champs and end their long Cup drought.

For Vancouver a Stanley Cup would be the first in franchise history as the Canucks have never taken down the NHL championship despite being in the league since 1970. Boston have five Cups to their franchise's credit however none of those have come since 1972 and the Bruins' contingent will want that streak ended.

History is on Vancouver's side heading into the game tonight as home teams typically win when the Stanley Cup Finals go to game seven. However their are counter-examples as the 2009 Pittsburgh Penguins won a tough game at Joe Louis Arena to capture the Stanley Cup over the Detroit Red Wings a couple years ago.

The series between Vancouver and Boston so far has played according to a very noticeable pattern. The Canucks have squeaked out one-goal victories when playing at home while the Bruins have won the games from the TD Center by a lot.

Boston are +11 in net goals on the series and from that point of view Vancouver are lucky to be alive in the series. However the Canucks did earn the right to host game seven at home in the Stanley Cup Finals through more consistent play during the regular season and they deserve the home ice edge tonight.

Game time is at 8pm ET (5pm PT) with television coverage provided with CBC and NBC.
