Canada vs Switzerland Preview - World Juniors Hockey Championship

Related Articles
The Canadians lost a close one to Sweden and will now have to face the Swiss.

The Canadian Juniors will be back in action on Sunday as they face an elimination scenario in the World Juniors Hockey Championship quarterfinals.

Canada had a chance to by-pass the quarterfinal round but after losing to Sweden on Friday, 6-5, the Canadians will now have to defeat Switzerland for the right to advance.

Switzerland have earned their spot in the quarterfinals however the fact remains that they are just a 2-2 team at this year's championship and they are -2 on net goals, with 11 for and 13 against. Canada, on the other hand, are 3-1 overall and +16 on goals for and against and the Canadians are clearly the better team.

It would be a shocking upset if the Swiss were to prevail on Sunday and for the most part the quarterfinal, for Canada, is about hitting form for the harder games to come. Canada may need better goaltending in order to win this tournament as the 12 goals against that the Canadian team have surrendered are the most of the top 4 teams in the tournament.

In Pool A, Sweden only gave up 9 goals against while the USA and Finland only gave up 4 each.

TSN have television coverage for the game which will take place at 3:00pm ET on Sunday and it is a game that the Canadians do look good to win, despite not winning their pool outright.
