Ibrahim Afellay, who has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, has reportedly been told by Barcelona that he is unlikely to feature in the first-team next season.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been showing interest in the Netherlands international for some time, while the likes of Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Juventus have also been linked with the 26-year-old in recent weeks.

And according to El Mundo Deportivo, the Dutchman could be on the move this summer after holding talks with new Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova, who informed the midfielder that he will find his first-team opportunities to be extremely limited should he remain at Camp Nou next season.

Afellay's agent is believed to have also been informed that his client is surplus to requirements, with a summer move looking likely.

Afellay was sidelined for most of last season with a knee injury, and had fallen down the pecking order as a result of the emergence of youngsters Isaac Cuenca and Cristian Tello during the 2011-12 campaign.

Reports earlier this month had suggested French club Lille had failed with a £5million bid for the midfielder, who is said to be unwilling to move to France.
