Arsene Wenger confident Bacary Sagna will stay at Arsenal FC

Arsene Wenger is confident that Bacary Sagna will remain at Arsenal, despite his recent comments criticising the club's transfer policy.

Sagna had last week hit out at the Gunners after seeing Alex Song follow Robin van Persie out of the exit door at Emirates Stadium this summer.

Although there is speculation that Sagna could seek a move next year, Wenger is convinced the player has no plans to leave north London.

"Bacary's interview doesn't reflect the love he has for this club," the Frenchman said.

"He has always given full commitment. Bacary loves the club and I think he will stay here."

Wenger also confirmed Sagna is unlikely to be ready to return to action for at least three more weeks.

Sagna had last week told L'Equipe: "I expected Robin's departure, but Alex, that was a surprise. He's 24 and had three years on his contract.

"When you see your two best players from last season leave, you ask yourself questions."

The full-back added: "In the street, supporters sometimes come to see me. I can understand that they're annoyed. I'm like them - I don't understand everything."

Sagna watched Nasri and Clichy help City win the Premier League title last season and added: "In May, I watched Manchester City's parade on television. I watched Samir and Gael lift the trophy.

"It makes you want that."
