Liverpool FC target Lewis Holtby on Arsenal FC's radar - report

Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, is reportedly on Arsenal's radar.

According to the Daily Mirror, Holtby is seen by the Gunners as a possible replacement for Theo Walcott, who is out of contract at the end of next season and is yet to agree a new deal at Emirates Stadium.

Holtby is in an identical situation to Walcott in Germany and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

The 21-year-old, who missed out on a place in Germany's Euro 2012 squad due to injury, had recently refused to rule out a future move to the Premiership and last week emerged as a possible target for Liverpool.

Holtby is a big fan of English football - his father is an Everton fan - and speaking to Bild last week, he admitted he is looking to play in England at some point in his career.

"I am very happy in Schalke," he said.

"But I would be lying if I said I will definitely extend may contract.

"My dream was always the Premier League - and someday I will make this step."
