Barcelona on Monday afternoon unveiled Cesc Fabregas, and confirmed the financial details behind his move from Arsenal.

The Spanish champions have paid Arsenal €29million [£25m] for the 24-year-old, who the Gunners had insisted throughout the summer would not be allowed to leave for less than £40m.

Barca will pay an additional €5m should they win two La Liga titles and one Champions League title while Fabregas is at the club.

As part of the deal, Fabregas will pay Arsenal €5m from his wages over the next five years, which is consistent with recent reports that the Spain international was prepared to take a wage cut to push through his dream move back to his boyhood club.

Barcelona have also confirmed that Fabregas' contract contains a €200MILLION release clause, which will come as a kick in the teeth to Arsenal.

The Daily Mirror reported on Monday morning that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis was wanting the club to hold out for a better deal, believing Barcelona's offer was well short of the player’s true market value.

AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester City and Real Madrid had all shown interest in Fabregas over the summer, and Gazidis is said to have been left annoyed that Barca signed the player on the cheap.

Fabregas had made it clear he wanted to return to Camp Nou, which meant a bidding war was avoided, and the Gunners as a result were left having to sell for less than their initial valuation.

Fabregas will wear the number four shirt this season and could make his debut in Wednesday night's Supercopa 2nd leg at home to Real Madrid.
