Jose Bosingwa has opened talks with Chelsea about a new deal at the club.

Reports last week had suggested the Blues were looking to tie the 29-year-old to a new contract after he impressed new manager Andre Villas-Boas during the summer.

Prior to the arrival of AVB, it was widely expected that the Portugal international would be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Bosingwa is believed to have been offered a one-year extension to his existing deal, which expires at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mirror, the former Porto defender wants two years guaranteed.

Bosingwa said: "I am happy at Chelsea and with the arrival of the new manager I have improved my performance.

"I would like a solution soon and to be focused on my work for the team. This season we can be very competitive for all of the trophies."
