Chelsea FC target Diego Godin has no plans to quit Atletico Madrid

Diego Godin, who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool, insists he has no plans to quit Atletico Madrid this summer.

Chelsea have been linked with the Uruguay international for some time and had a bid rejected by Atletico at the start of last year.

Reports in Spain last month suggested Premier League champions Manchester City were showing interest in the £12million-rated centre-back, while Arsenal and Liverpool have previously been linked with the 26-year-old.

Godin's agent has previously admitted to holding talks with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, but the player insists he is not interested in leaving the Spanish capital during the summer transfer window.

"I wish to stay," he told Marca.

"Adrian and Radamel Falcao are here too and like me they hope to continue here.

"The European Super Cup is the ultimate goal we have in the short term, because it's another title and offers prestige in Europe. We are privileged to be taking part.

"We will be ambitious but organised too. By doing that we will start earning points and hopefully achieve our main objective of Champions League qualification."
