Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic.
Reports earlier this month had suggested Chelsea were preparing to launch a £20million bid for Jovetic as they look to bolster their attacking options for next season.
Napoli are also keen on the 22-year-old, who has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Fiorentina last week moved to try and end speculation regarding Jovetic's future by insisting they had no plans to sell their prize asset during the summer transfer window.
But according to La Gazetta dello Sport, Chelsea could finally land the Montenegro international should they table a bid of £25m.
And based on reports coming out of Italy, it would appear Fiorentina's statement last week, in which the club said " patron Andrea Della Valle insists that the player is not on the market," was designed to prompt Chelsea into increasing their offer.
Jovetic is understood to have a buy-out clause in his contract with the Serie A club set at around £25m..
The player only recently signed a new five-year deal with Fiorentina, but reports in Italy earlier this year claimed the new long-term contract was only agreed so the club could obtain a higher transfer fee.
Jovetic had earlier this year put Chelsea on alert after being quoted as saying he had "been looking out for a chance to play in the Premier League."
