Chelsea FC have £6m bid for Cesar Azpilicueta turned down - report

Chelsea have reportedly had a £6million bid for full-back Cesar Azpilicueta rejected by Marseille.

The 22-year-old is believed to be Chelsea's top defensive transfer target as they look to replace Jose Bosingwa, who left the club at the end of last season.

Marseille last week admitted the Spaniard could be made available for sale as they look to raise funds for new signings.

But according to Metro citing reports in France, the Ligue 1 outfit have rejected Chelsea's opening offer.

Marseille are said to be wanting closer to £10m for Azpilicueta, who was part of Spain's Olympic squad that suffered a shock exit from the men's football tournament on Sunday night.

Azpilicueta, who has also been linked with Liverpool, said last week of his future with Marseille: "I am relaxed and waiting for developments.

"It is flattering when you have clubs such as Chelsea interested in you, but there are other clubs interested as well.

"Nothing is decided as yet so let's wait and see what happens."
