Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out bids for Willian and Eden Hazard after insisting he will not sign players who are cup-tied for the Champions League.

A report on Saturday morning suggested Chelsea had made a £20million offer for Willian and wanted to complete a deal for the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker before the end of the month, while reports over the past week have suggested that a move for Hazard was also on the cards (see below).

But speaking after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Norwich, Villas-Boas said: "Willian is a very interesting player but he is cup-tied in the Champions League and I don’t think we should go for players who cannot be involved in all the competitions.

"Again, I’m not stressed on what we can do in this transfer window."

That effectively ruled out any bids for players who are not able to play for Chelsea in the Champions League in the second half of the season.

However the Portuguese refused to completely rule out any new signings being made before the end of January, adding: "If a good opportunity arises we could study it but at the moment we are very satisfied."

Hazard is also a target for Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid and others, while Willian has also been linked with several other Premier League clubs.
