Chelsea FC remain coy on Oscar as deal edges closer

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has refused to rule out a deal for Internacional attacker Oscar following reports suggesting a fee has been agreed.

Chelsea's interest in Oscar was confirmed by Internacional late last week following reports suggesting the Blues were confident of wrapping up a deal for the 20-year-old.

Internacional president Giovanni Luigi earlier this week said that a deal was edging closer, but insisted Oscar would only join Chelsea if the Premier League club were prepared to make it the biggest transfer in the country's history.

Sky Sports News reported on Monday evening that Chelsea had agreed a £25million deal "in principle" for the Brazil international, who will represent his country at the London 2012 Olympics, while reports in South America have suggested that he could undergo a medical with the Blues in the next 24 hours.

But speaking to reporters, Di Matteo has given little away about any deal.

"I can tell you that he's not a Chelsea player so it's difficult for me to talk about a player that doesn't belong to us," said the Italian.

"I know there has been speculation we are interested in this player and in due course if there is anything to announce we will do.

"All I would say is that he is a very young, talented midfield player."

Oscar's arrival would take Chelsea's summer spending up to around £65m following the recent arrivals of Marko Marin and Eden Hazard.
