Chelsea FC could sign Alvaro Pereira for £15m - report

Chelsea have reportedly been offered Porto defender Alvaro Pereira in a cut price £15million deal.

Chelsea tried to sign the full-back last summer but failed to pursuade the Portuguese side to lower their £22m asking price.

The Blues have continued to show interest in the Uruguay international over the past twelve months and are known to be keen on bringing in a new right-back before the transfer window closes on August 31st.

And according to Metro, Porto are now ready to lower their asking price for Pereira and will sell to Chelsea for around £15m.

Pereira, 26, had last summer claimed Porto refused to do business with the Blues in a bid to "get back" at the Premier League club for luring Andre Villas-Boas away from the Estadio do Dragao to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

Pereira recently admitted he is open to leaving Portugal this month, and one of his representatives, Alejandro Savich, this week confirmed talks over his future are scheduled to take place.

"We are due to hold an important meeting with Porto," Savich told Maisfutebol.

"But I do not want to speculate on what the outcome will be."

Reports in Portugal this week have suggested Pereira could move to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan deal, with a view to a permanent deal going through next summer.
