John Terry backed to be left out of England squad for Euro 2012

Chelsea captain John Terry is odds-on to NOT be included in Roy Hodgson's England squad for next month's European Championships.

Hodgson is planning to talk to both Terry and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand before deciding on his 23-man squad next week.

And newspaper reports on Wednesday morning suggested newly-appointed England boss Hodgson believes it will be difficult to include both in his squad when Terry's trial for a racially aggravated public order offence that involves Ferdinand's brother, QPR defender Anton, does not take place until after the tournament (see Related Articles).

As a result, bookmakers William Hill make Terry just 1/4 to NOT make Hodgson's squad for Poland and Ukraine.

Ferdinand is 4/11 to be part of the Three Lions squad.

Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly told Crunchsports.com: "This is the first real issue that Hodgson has had to deal with in his role as England manager and the odds suggest that Rio will get the nod for the Euros with Terry missing out."
