Italy will face Spain in the final of Euro 2012 following Thursday night's 2-1 win over Germany.

Two goals from Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli saw Italy reach this Sunday's final in Kiev, with the Azzurri impressing against a German side many had tipped to go all the way in the tournament.

Wednesday night had seen reigning champions Spain book their place in the final as they beat Portugal via a penalty shoot-out after the two sides had failed to find the net after 120 minutes of football.

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli insists Spain will be the favourites when the two countries meet this weekend.

"I open my eyes but I'm still dreaming," said Prandelli after Thursday's win.

"There's great satisfaction here as everyone has put so much work into this.

"But Spain will go into the game as favourites."

He added: "They've been working on this for many years and have dominated every single contest. They are a brilliant side."
