FC Barcelona forward David Villa back in training and 'can't wait' to return

Barcelona forward David Villa "can't wait" to return to action after spending much of last season sidelined through injury.

Villa missed the second half of the 2011-12 campaign after suffering a fractured tibia last December during the Club World Cup in Japan and also missed Euro 2012.

The Spain international may not feature in Barca's upcoming pre-season friendlies, but after being given the green light to rejoin his team-mates in training, he is eager to get back on the pitch.

"I can't wait for the end of my holidays," he said.

"I passed the review with the doctors and now I must forget the injury and train with the rest of the team, not separate from them as it was before."

Of Spain's success at the European Championships, he added: "The win was outstanding. Spain achieved what nobody before them had done and we should all be proud of the team."
