Barcelona insist they have not held talks with Arsenal over a summer deal for striker Robin van Persie.
Reports in Spain last week had suggested Van Persie is keen on moving to Camp Nou to be reunited with former Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas.
A report in British newspaper had also suggested that Barca are hoping to sign the Netherlands international for a reduced fee at the end of the season when he will be entering the final twelve months of his contract.
But although Van Persie is believed to be unwilling to discuss a new deal with the Gunners until the season is over, Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has denied the club have held talks with either the north London club or the player himself.
Speaking after Saturday's 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, Bartomeu said: "Nothing exists with RVP.
"It's rumours that appear in the papers. We've not contacted Arsenal, nor his agent.
"Our focus is now on the Liga and Copa del Rey.
"It's necessary to be focused on the task at hand and not be distracted by the transfer market."
Real Madrid and Manchester City are both believed to be monitoring developments with the 28-year-old.
