Lionel Messi insists he is in no rush to sign new FC Barcelona contract

Barcelona star Lionel Messi insists he is in no rush to begin negotiations over a new contract at Camp Nou.

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell revealed back in September that he was wanting to offer Messi a new contract, despite his existing deal still having four years left to run.

Rosell is believed to be ready to offer the Argentina international a two-year extension that would tie him to the Catalans until 2018.

"I am not worried about my contract, I have repeated that on numerous occasions," Messi told Marca.

"My objectives with the club are longstanding; to improve and to try to win everything that we have already won."

Messi was also questioned about his supposed rivalry with Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I do not compete against Ronaldo," he added.

"I try to do the best possible with Barca and with Argentina.

"That is something that the press have invented. Neither Ronaldo nor myself competes with the other."
