Barcelona are reportedly preparing to make a fresh bid to sign Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas

Barca's interest in the 23-year-old has been well documented for some time, with the Spain midfielder close to making the move to Camp Nou last summer before pledging his future to the Gunners.

Last week, Fabregas was linked with a £35million move to Real Madrid, but according to Caughtoffside.com, Barcelona are preparing a bid worth up to £45m, which could include one or more players.

Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano is reportedly one of the players who will be offered to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly hopeful of making a successful bid for the player in the summer, but the chance to return to boyhood club Barcelona would almost certainly be Fabregas' preferred choice.

El Mundo Deportivo recently reported that the Catalan club were keeping their symbolic number 4 shirt vacant for Fabregas' arrival.
