Barcelona could be without Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets for this weekend's Spanish Supercopa first-leg against Real Madrid.

Centre-back Pique took a knock late in Spain's 2-1 defeat away to Italy on Wednesday, while Busquets - who came on for his Barca team-mate - hurt his knee.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres was taken off after just 14 minutes of the game with a suspected concussion.

The La Liga season gets underway in just over a week but Barca have the two-legged Supercopa to come before then.

The first leg takes place this weekend at the Bernabeu on August 14th, with the second leg taking place at Camp Nou on August 17th.

And Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola could find himself without both Pique and Busquets, in addition to captain Carles Puyol who has already been ruled out.

But Spain's physio, Juan Cota, told Sport that both players could feature if their injuries suffer no further ill-effects.

"Busquets was on the receiving end of a tackle and has a painful knee," he said.

"Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be too serious.

"Pique has a muscular problem. He could be recovered in time for Sunday if nothing happens in the next few days."

Last season saw Barca win both La Liga and the Champions League, while Guardiola's side also won the Spanish curtain-raiser against Sevilla twelve months ago.

But the Catalans lost the first leg to Sevilla 3-1 before fighting back in the second leg to win 5-3 on aggregate.
