Juventus FC 'know what we have to do' to sign Robin van Persie

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta says the club know what they have to do if they are to sign Arsenal captain Robin van Persie this summer.

Van Persie is out of contract at the end of next season and recently announced he does not plan to sign a new deal at Emirates Stadium.

It is believed the 28-year-old is keen for his future to be resolved by the end of the week, with Juventus, along with Manchester City and Manchester United, widely seen as frontrunners in the race to sign the Dutchman.

Newspaper reports on Thursday morning suggested Man Utd are confident of winning the race to sign Van Persie (see Related Articles), but with Arsenal having received several bids for their skipper this week, Marotta admits that they are trying to seal a move which the Italian champions believe would be seen as a "fans' dream".

"Van Persie is a fans' dream," he said.

"Everyone has dreams but then you have to confront this with the reality.

"We know what we have to do, and that is the important thing."

As of Thursday morning, Man City remain odds-on favourites with bookmakers to be Van Persie's next club, ahead of Man Utd - whose odds have been slashed throughout the week - and Juventus.

AC Milan, Barcelona, and Real Madrid have also shown interest in the Netherlands international.
