Real Madrid CF to leave out Benzema or Higuain against FC Barcelona

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will play either Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain in tonight's El Clasico against Barcelona - but not both.

Both Benzema and Higuain have been in superb form this season, with their goals being a big part of why Los Blancos go into this weekend's clash three points clear of Barca at the top of Primera Liga.

But although the duo have shown they can play alongside each other, Mourinho has revealed that one will have to settle for a place on the bench at the Bernabeu.

"No, I’m not going to play them [both]," the Special One told AS.

"There will be Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Angel] Di Maria, and then [either] Benzema or Higuain."

Despite Madrid being top of the table and having a game in hand on their rivals, Mourinho insists that form counts for nothing in the game, adding: "What has happened so far does not matter; it only matters what happens in those 90 minutes."

Madrid have won all six of their home games in the Liga this season and will go into the game as favourites against Pep Guardiola's side, who have won two from six away games so far.
