La Liga Soccer Preview (19th-20th December)

Crunch Sports Staff - 18 Dec 2009

La Liga betting for matchday 15 doesn’t include a Barcelona fixture.

The Catalans are busy at the World Club Championships, but can rest assured that they will go into the Winter break as La Liga leaders, sitting five points ahead of Real Madrid going into this weekend’s games. Los Blancos will want to cut that lead down to just two points, with a win at home to Real Zaragoza.

Real Madrid can’t catch Barcelona going into the Winter break, but they can at least close the gap on their rivals by beating Real Zaragoza at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. Judging by Zaragoza’s away form, that looks more than likely. The Aragonians have taken just two points on the road this season, having earned promotion from the Spanish second division on the final day of last season. More importantly they sacked Marcelino, their manager after last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat by Athletic Bilbao.

Zaragoza will almost certainly be under temporary management for the trip to Madrid, which couple with the fact that they have lost on the last five visits (four without even scoring) suggests Pinnacle Sports have it right on their La Liga betting, where the home side are strong favourites, despite the absence of Kaka, and Brazilian defender, Pepe. Real Madrid 1.218, Real Zaragoza 15.50, Draw 7.410 - a market priced to less than 103% at Pinnacle
