Liverpool and Chelsea have been put on alert after Palermo midfielder Armin Bacinovic admitted he wants to play in the Premier League

While the Premier League rivals - along with Manchester United - are believed to be keen on signing Bacinovic's Palermo team-mate Javier Pastore, the 21-year-old has also been monitored by the clubs in recent months.

And the Slovenia international has revealed his "big wish" is to play in England's top flight.

The former Maribor midfielder, who primarily plays in a defensive role, was in action for his country last week against Northern Ireland and the game in Belfast has led to him stating that he wants to play the way his opponents did that night.

"In Belfast, there were so many hard tackles, we fought for every ball," he told Sportskenovosti. "But that is the way I like to play football.

"I enjoy so much the hard battles, I'm a die-hard player and I never step back, not even one centimetre.

"There was one moment where one of the Northern Ireland players got really close to me - he thought that I would be scared and move away, but I pushed him away and the ref stepped in between us.

"But yes, I really like the British kind of football so my big wish is to play in the Premier League one day."

Both Chelsea and Liverpool are expected to spend big in the transfer market this summer and both clubs have been linked with several players who can play in Bacinovic's position - especially the Merseysiders, who are yet to really replace Javier Mascherano, who joined Barcelona last summer.
