Liverpool FC could launch summer bid for Emmanuel Adebayor - report

Liverpool are reportedly set to beat Tottenham in the race to sign Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Adebayor has been on loan at Tottenham this season and has been in impressive form, with his goals and performances helping the north London club to close in on Champions League football for next season.

But according to Caughtoffside.com, his wage demands could stop a permanent move to White Hart Lane from going through, which has led to renewed interest from Anfield.

Liverpool have been linked with the Togo forward for some time and he was on their radar last year.

During the summer, the Merseysiders were believed to be considering a bid for the former Arsenal striker, while it was reported last November that Reds boss Kenny Dalglish was already weighing up a move for this summer as he looks to add to his attacking options.

Although Dalglish has spent big money on Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, they have failed to really gel and it is thought that the Scot is looking to bring in another forward at the end of the current campaign.

Manchester City are known to be keen to get the player they paid £25million for off their books this summer, but just how much of that sum they will look to recoup remains to be seen.

Tottenham are thought to be unwilling to meet Adebayor's six-figure weekly wage demands, and towards the end of last year a transfer fee of around £15m had been reported, which they may also be unwilling to cough up.
